Redirects

While Simply Static automatically converts your existing WordPress redirects into a static-compatible format, you sometimes need to set up a redirect at a more global level.

Open the Redirect-Editor

Click on the little icon in the Static Site column to manage your global redirects:

Here you can set up redirects (including wildcard support) for your static site - you can use relative paths as well as absolute URLs to redirect to external URLs (e.g, for affiliate links):

You will notice that there are already a few redirects set up - these cover our best practices - they are optional (so they can be removed), but we highly recommend keeping them:

Manage your redirects

To review or change the redirects you've already created, switch to the Manage Redirects tab. You'll see every rule for your site, along with how many of your available rules you've used - you can create up to 45 server-side redirects per site.

Find a rule

If you have many redirects, use the Search redirect rules... box to quickly filter the list by path or destination. The refresh button next to it reloads the list with your latest rules.

Enable or disable a rule

Each rule has a toggle in the Status column.

Switch it off to temporarily disable a redirect without deleting it, and switch it back on whenever you need it again. This works for the built-in best-practice rules, too - if you'd rather not use one, you can simply disable it rather than remove it.

Edit a rule

Click the pencil icon next to a rule you've created to change the path it matches.

Save your changes, and the updated rule takes effect right away.

Delete a rule

Click the trash icon to remove a redirect you no longer need.
